When you’re looking for a ‘summer sandwich to eat on the terrace’, what can be more tempting than a ‘simple’ lobster roll? This sandwich, which is rich (it doesn’t come cheap) and unpretentious, is a perfect component to a Father’s Day meal; what’s more, you can also get some great bargains at your local grocery store.
In Quebec, the term ‘guédille’ refers to a (toasted or untoasted) hot dog bun filled with salad and mayonnaise. When topped with lobster, it is not unlike the New England lobster roll. It is a common sight in snack bars along the Atlantic coast, from the Maritimes to Gaspésie, where it is served up with crab, shrimp or lobster meat.
All you need now are a chilled bottle of white wine and a nice quiet beach in which to enjoy this ultimate summer delicacy!
Happy Father’s Day!
