Chewing gum, soft drinks and sweeteners

BEFORE Avoid chewing gum, soft drinks and carbonated water, because they increase the amount of air swallowed and cause bloating.
NOW Avoid chewing gum, soft drinks and drinking through a straw. These habits encourage flatulence, which can cause more gas in the digestive system. Also avoid foods that use the following sweeteners: mannitol, sorbitol and xylitol, which can cause diarrhoea.

Fats

BEFORE Consume fats in moderation.
NOW No specific guidelines.
Of course, it is still important not to eat too much fatty food during meals, but the focus is no longer merely on fat. In fact, several “good” foods such as apples and honey can also cause problems!

Lactose

BEFORE No specific guidelines, except in case of lactose intolerance.
NOW Minimize the intake of high-lactose foods such as milk, yogurt, fresh cheese, ice cream, etc. Foods containing traces of lactose are usually well tolerated.
It is now advisable to reduce lactose to negligible amounts for the period of elimination, something that was not done before. A consumption test can then be done to determine whether lactose is a problem for you.
