Yes, anyone can be vegan. Hear me out though, it isn’t as simple as that. The more foods that you cut out of your diet, the more that you are at risk of missing out on key nutrients. If you want to perform well on the ice and be healthy, you need to be a good vegan. What’s a good vegan? Someone who makes sure to replace animal products with plant-based foods that are high in nutrients that are more likely to be missing from their diet (iron, zinc, calcium, vitamin D, riboflavin, vitamin B12, and omega-3 fatty acids) is a good vegan. As a vegan, you need to be even smarter about what you eat. French fries and potato chips are vegan, but I think we can all agree that eating a lot of French fries and potato chips is hardly the key to hockey success!
