Sports Dietitians can work at 3 levels to improve sports nutrition habits. Level 1 is to provide resources such as a hockey sports nutrition guide; Level 2 is to provide group services such as a group nutrition session; and Level 3 is to provide individual nutrient recommendations and food prescriptions. Be careful when setting up level 2 activities as some research has shown that large group settings are not effective. Frequent, small group sessions are key to educating young hockey players.
