Ingredients

2 Belgian endive (Witloof), cut into 1.5-2 cm slices 300 g
70 g Gorgonzola cheese, or other creamy blue cheese
1 tsp balsamic vinegar 5 mL

Method

  1. Preheat the broiler.
  2. Prepare the Belgian endives: slice them lengthwise into 1,5-2 cm thick slices. Put them in an ovenproof dish under the broiler, 12 cm from the heat. Grill for about 4-5 min, paying attention not to let them burn.
  3. Take the dish out of the oven and spread the cheese over the slices. Sprinkle with balsamic vinegar. Grill an additional 4-5 min, until the cheese has melted completely and is lightly browned. It is not necessary to add any salt, since the cheese is already rather salty. Serve.

So quick and tasty. Makes a very nice, uncomplicated starter. I served this to my guests a few times already and they all love it.
